BARDA's Tools for Emergency Response
& Why We Need Your Engagement
Tuesday, February 25, 2025 | 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. EST | Free | Virtual via Zoom
Chemical, Radiological/Nuclear, and Burn/Blast incident scenarios envision limited access to both initial and definitive health care resources, which are likely to occur in resource-limited and/or time-constrained environments. Thus, it is imperative that the Biomedical Advanced Research Authority (BARDA) emergency preparedness planning efforts are congruent with concept of operations from the emergency medical community. As part of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, BARDA’s mission is to develop and procure medical countermeasures (MCMs) for chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear emergencies as well as pandemic flu and other infectious diseases.
To better fulfill its mission, BARDA has been engaging with the emergency responder community to gain an understanding of their needs, to familiarize the EMS community with BARDA’s MCM development efforts, and to explore how BARDA can help the end user community address CBRN challenges and gaps.
During this presentation, attendees will learn to:
-
Understand unmet MCM product needs ensuring EMS are fully resourced to handle emergencies with the appropriate countermeasures.
-
Create a communication channel directly with the end user to ensure they are informed about BARDA’s products and technologies.
-
Increase awareness of and obtain end user input on BARDA’s products designed for emergency response.
